19th Century Italian Creche Doll
A 19th Century Italian creche doll from Naples, Italy. is a unique art form and rich in cultural tradition. These were created in the seventh, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to visualize the birth of the Christ child in nativity scenes These scenes were made up of true and realistic characters from every aspect of daily human life in 18th century Naples.
This example has a beautiful original porcelain face, with later additions of flowers, veil and gold brocade detailing.
