This is not something I claim to be an expert at. I am a beginner and it has gone wrong a few times  but I can help but keep feeling our home or the shop for that matter just needs a few more plants!  Im sat writing this in the store with 15 plants I can see from the desk and still thinking just a few more.  I do love an abundance of plants anyway but I find  they really help to bring out all the colours in our pieces. Dark old wood against bright fresh green really lifts pieces and gives them extra life. I use them all over our flat but didn’t notice until recently spending three days photographing the flat with the wonderful photographer Matt Sommerville how each photo really was lifted by the plants. Matt already with a hefty few plants of his own kept pointing this out to me in the photos and we ended up bringing in a fair few more. I know I am slow on the uptake, I think its because I finally have a few house plants that I have kept alive for a few years, even though our actual garden advances are slow. Our interiors style is pretty dark and generally a bit muted, from dark worn ebonised wood to tarnished silver plating.  Although all together it looks balanced the splashes of green really helps to give it all a much stronger look.

After dropping a piece off once to the most lovely lady.  In a wonderful top floor flat full of wonderful pieces, collections and hallway totally crammed with plants I kind of became hooked.  We made Kokedamas for the store, which was much harder than I expected but still have an amazing succulent Kokedama hanging in our bathroom. I tied repotting a few plants and replaced our lack lustre window boxes. Most things are now doing well except the window boxes. We killed Ivy.

For us the plants are a great extra thing to look after. A reason to just wander around the flat and a general source of bonus happiness in the flat especially when they start getting new shoots. I have aspirations to one day to totally redo our bathroom, with a new shower, tiles, a small cabinet and bits. However I think we will actually let the plants be the star in here. If we can just keep them alive.

This is quite a simple space with a few vintage wood pieces, the natural rug really helps to pull it all together.

This is in side but would obviously look amazing outside too. This is definitely way past my current gardening skills.

Always think this picture really helps to show how displaying collections always looks great and alongside the wood how plants and foliage really help to invigorate the whole look

Grey walls and some killer hanging baskets!

I know this is not a room more of just a set up. However we often stock these cases and domes and its always a look i think works really well in store and at home. If you want to see what kind of things we have in store at the moment you can have a little look here –

Not totally my style, but the mix of patterns and oversized palms does really give a rather homily feel and also somehow seems like there should be some kind of lavish party going on, and its 1972.

Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 14.38.27This is one of those bathrooms that makes me really want to work on ours. However with quite hardcore damp issues already it may not quite happen.

Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 14.39.14This was from a Design Sponge House tour a few months back. There is nothing totally different about this bathroom but it is very inviting. The plants all along the window edge is a classic look and made more so with the vintage swan!

Terrariums are a great way to get plants into your home. We have massive thing for them and are always on the hunt for more. This is the most amazing one we have ever had an original Victorian one all planted up!

I'm not sure if this is technically an interior I think the wall may be pretty open but all looks very inviting and pretty romantic together.

Well just in case you really want to go to town!

Plant take over! Apart from the fact I am supposed to be focusing on interiors and plants I think this is actually just a lovely photograph but I think would be a whole heap better without the big white paper shade!

Back to the living wall, I can’t actually imagine maintaining this and I am not wholly sure I like it here, but I do love the idea of the living wall as an overflowing balcony.

Or just fill up a beautiful table, alas this is not my kind of beautiful table but the plants look great.

Last one, mainly I think I love this chair. I love the colour I like the cabinet and the old trophys. I like the colour of the plants but not them planted in the drawers kind of rendering the drawers useless! I presume they are not planted in them really just placed. Also not keen on that big lamp shade, just the colour of that chair!
